For business managers, search engine goals are good, but should be able to translate into revenue. Below are some examples of business objectives:

2. Increase brand awareness and improve public image.
3. Commitment with the client, either by attracting new clients and deepening the loyalty of existing ones.
4. Maintain or even increase, but reduce advertising revenue or marketing expenses.
A Merry Mix Search Engine and Business Goals
As to the question: Which is correct? the answer is: both are correct when applied in context of each. Business goals are paramount importance for business, no search goals. But business managers should not disregard the SEO efforts to achieve the goals of searching, since the achievement of these objectives are vital to the conduct online goals business.
For how can there be income when visitors buying? How can customers be aware that the company has a presence online, unless the search engines drive these customers to the site?
Moreover, the efforts of SEO should not blindly follow the search engine goals. SEO activities must be elected in achieving business goals. For example, SEO practices should not focus on hundreds of websites on the site, when a handful important landing pages and pages our customers lead to actual purchases should be the priorities of primary SEO.
When and business objectives Search engine are aligned, the return is less waste SEO efforts, and better investment in SEO for the company.
